GREAT THINGS ARE HAPPENING IN WARSAW!
Board of Education Spotlight - May 2022
Sara Miller is a 7th grader here at the middle school.
Activities include Softball, Basketball, Volleyball, Art, Hunting, Fishing, and Helping Neighbors when they need it. She has been our student of the month. She is on the JBMS honor roll. A member of the JBMS Honor Society, She has placed 2nd place in the state through the Elks Hoops Shoot Free throw contest. And she has been recognized for showing compassion.
Her Future plans are to become a coach.
Brayden Henderson is an 8th grader here at the middle school.
Activities include Cross Country, Basketball, Track, and he serves as an FFA officer, He is a member of the JBMS honor society he has served as a member of the middle school student council, he has been recognized as a student of the month. He is also in Algebra I as an 8th grader and is on the JBMS honor roll.
His future high school plans are to tackle geometry and Algebra II and serve in the FFA all four years.
JBMS Principal, Dr. Billy Daleske, "I am recognizing these two students because they have absolutely been a pleasure to have as students. They are leaders in our school and the type of role models that I would want my kids to look up to.
I want to say thank you to their parents and just let you know how wonderful these kids are."
Jerimiah Johnson is an outstanding student who demonstrate excellent achievement by maintaining academic excellence and school representation in a number of honorable groups and leadership involvement at Warsaw High School. Jeremiah has an outstanding work ethic and school pride. He has maintained a positive attitude towards learning and has always accepted feedback to improve his learning in all areas of academics. Bill Wood recognized Jeremiah and says, "he exemplifies our school motto of Tradition, Pride, and Excellence. His is highly recommended and extremely deserving of this recognition."

The Warsaw R-IX School Board of Education, Principal Danny Morrison, and Math Teacher Amy Spunaugle recently recognized the following students for their outstanding academic success and achievements: Senior Corbin Thirstrup, Junior Ashlyn Laue, Junior Anna Siegel, and Junior Ashley Spry. All four students are currently taking two dual credit math courses offered through Central Methodist University. They doubled up with Trigonometry and Calculus. All four are also taking other dual credit courses through State Fair Community College.
Corbin Thirstrup - Corbin is the son of Destiny and Cody Wilson. His favorite class is Calculus, and his future plans include attending Missouri S&T, Saint Louis University or the University of Missouri. Corbin's career choices are satellite designer or astrophysicist. Corbin's accomplishments include testing out of college algebra with a high ACT score, getting accepted, with scholarships, into all of the above stated colleges, plus KU, and making district choir this past fall.
Ashlyn Laue - parents are Peggy and Andy Laue. Her favorite class is Trigonometry and World War II studies. Ashlyn's future schools of choice are the University of Missouri, Central Methodist University, or Vanderbilt University, where her choices of study are biochemistry or political science.
Ashlyn's career choices include either medicine or law, and her accomplishments include maintaining her grade point average above a 4.0 while doubling up on math or science every year, playing varsity sports all 3 years of high school in all 3 sports, and time spent on mission trips helping others in Houston, Texas and South Dakota.
Anna Siegel - Anna is the daughter of Bethany Siegel. Her favorite class is Trig or Chemistry. Anna is interested in attending Mizzou, S&T, or Washington University, where she will either major in biochemistry or biomedical engineering. Anna's future career choices are a biomedical engineer or neuroscientist. Anna's accomplishments thus far are her mission trips to South Dakota, Texas, and Branson, maintaining over a 4.0 while being in over 7 extra curricular activities, being at the top of her class all three years of high school.
Ashley Spry - Ashley is the daughter of Tracey and Jerry Spry. Her favorite class is Creative Writing or Sociology. Ashley would like to attend Missouri S&T, Kansas University, or Drury, and she would like to study sociology or computer science. Ashley's future career choice is to work for the FBI as an Artificial Intelligence Specialist.
Ashley's accomplishments include creating a club for everyone to be welcomed, maintaining a 4.0 or higher grade point average while playing sports, working, and being in other programs, and she is on track to graduate with an Associate's Degree when she graduates from high school.
Congratulations to these four outstanding students. There is no limit to what they can accomplish!
The Warsaw Math Team competed in their first math competition in Cole Camp, Missouri on February 26, 2022. They were not able to fill a full team due to snow days previous to the competition, but the team finished strong with a 2nd place finish! It was an awesome day for the mathletes.
Team 12 consisting of Ben Kowal, Alan Landsberg, and Corbin Thirstrup finished in 2nd place. Team 11 consisting of Ashlyn Laue, Anna Siegel, and Ashley Spry earned a 1st place medal. Team 10 consisting of Lovlie Haidusek, Alison Williston, and Hannah Wooldridge ended in 6th place. Team 9 consisting of Ashlynn Adams and Jaxson Deckard earned a 1st place medal.
Top freshmen, Jaxson Deckard earned 2nd place. While top sophomore, Hannah Wooldridge ended up 5th place. The team had two top juniors, Ashley Spry finished 2nd and Anna Siegel finished 3rd.

The Warsaw R-IX Board of Education recognized Miss Kenyan Beck at the January 20th Board of Education meeting. Kenyan has read over one million words as of January 2022 and is well on her goal of reading 2 million words by the end of the school year. Kenyan's 5th grade teacher is Ms. Branna Murray. Congratulations, Kenyan! We are very proud of you and your academic success!

Congratulations to Warsaw High School Archery team member Hudson Karr for qualifying for the Archery State meet in both 3D and Bullseye events. Hudson received 2nd place at the recent Skyline tournament in both 3D and Bullseye with a score of 281 and 275 respectively. The team scored 1488 points in the 3D event.

On November 8, 2021 the staff of the Warsaw School District came together for a professional development day. The theme of the day was What is Your Why? The staff worked together to discover or rediscover their WHY. Why they chose to teach, why they love what they do, why they dedicate their life to teaching.

The Missouri Interscholastic Press Association has announced that the 2021 Ozark Echoes yearbook entitled "The New Not So Normal," was awarded the top ranking in the state, All-Missouri. Congratulations yearbook staff! This is a great honor.
